Free EcoVadis Assessment Start Pack

Start Your EcoVadis Assessment Without Wasting the First Week

Has a customer asked your company to complete EcoVadis? Or are you preparing for a first assessment and unsure whether to open the questionnaire, gather documents or start asking colleagues for help?

The free EcoVadis Assessment Start Pack helps you check your starting position, identify the area that needs attention first and organise useful action for the next seven days.

Use it to answer three practical questions:

  • Where are we actually starting from?
  • Which gap could slow us down most?
  • What should we do first?

Check. Choose. Act.

A clearer place to begin

Do Not Start by Gathering Documents at Random

The EcoVadis questionnaire is useful because it helps you see which topics and evidence requests apply to the assessed organisation. Problems begin when a team opens it and immediately asks everyone to send anything that might be relevant:

  • Nobody is completely sure which company, sites or activities are included.
  • The deadline is known, but there is no workable internal timetable.
  • Documents are requested before anyone has agreed what they are meant to demonstrate.
  • Policies are collected, while actions, implementation records and results are overlooked.
  • Colleagues receive broad requests and do not know what a useful response looks like.

The Start Pack gives you a short preparation process before that work expands. If your questionnaire is already open, use it alongside the pack to make your internal requests more focused. The pack does not assume that every company has the same problem.

The three-step approach

Check. Choose. Act.

01

Check

Review five areas of EcoVadis preparation and record what is clear, partly in place, missing or still unknown.

02

Choose

Select the one gap most likely to delay progress instead of trying to repair everything at once.

03

Act

Plan a focused first week, involve the people you need and start locating the most useful existing materials.

Five preparation areas

A Practical EcoVadis Assessment Checklist for Your First Week

The workbook helps you check:

  1. Assessment setup and ownership: scope, deadline, coordinator, contributors and approvers.
  2. Policy foundations: whether important commitments are documented, owned and appropriate for the assessed organisation.
  3. Actions and implementation: whether commitments connect to real controls, responsibilities, activities and records.
  4. Results and reporting: whether important measures have clear definitions, owners, boundaries and supporting sources.
  5. Evidence and submission: whether useful materials can be found and whether they actually support the claims being made.

You then choose one primary gap and turn it into a realistic first-week plan.

This Pack Is Useful If...

  • a customer has asked your company to complete EcoVadis;
  • you are preparing for a first assessment;
  • you are approaching a reassessment but the work still feels scattered;
  • you are unsure who should be involved;
  • you need to decide what to do before gathering a large volume of documents.

What It Does Not Promise

  • a universal list of documents every company must create;
  • an answer key for your company-specific questionnaire;
  • a decision about which files should use the 55-document allowance;
  • a prediction of your score or medal;
  • a replacement for company-specific judgement or specialist advice.

What a Useful First Week Looks Like

Don't expectĀ to finish your EcoVadis submission in seven days.

A useful result is clearer scope and ownership, one identified priority, a small number of focused internal requests and a better understanding of the first documents that already exist.
