EcoVadis Medals and Badges: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and the 2026 Rules.

If you are trying to work out what score you need for an EcoVadis Gold, Platinum, Silver or Bronze medal, there is no fixed published score threshold to look up.

Medals are based on your percentile when the scorecard is published, together with other eligibility rules. Platinum is the top 1%, Gold the top 5%, Silver the top 15% and Bronze the top 35%.

Published company scores can still help you estimate the likely range. This guide explains how to read those examples, what else affects medal eligibility and how to turn your own scorecard into an improvement plan.

1. What Are EcoVadis Medals and Badges?

Your EcoVadis score is the 0–100 result of the assessment. Your percentile shows how that result compares with companies assessed by EcoVadis during the preceding 12 months. Your medal reflects that relative performance together with the medal eligibility rules.

An EcoVadis medal is not a certification or product label. It applies to the assessed company and does not certify that its products or services are sustainable. The distinction is explained in more detail in EcoVadis Certification: What It Actually Means and What to Do Next.

2. What Score Do You Need for Gold, Platinum, Silver or Bronze?

EcoVadis does not publish fixed score thresholds for Gold, Platinum, Silver or Bronze. The medal is determined by your percentile when the scorecard is published, together with the other eligibility conditions.

Published results from other companies can still help you estimate the likely range. A reported Gold score shows what led to Gold for that assessed entity at that time. It is a useful reference point rather than a guaranteed threshold for your own assessment.

3. How to Find and Use Public EcoVadis Results

Public EcoVadis results can help you form a more realistic picture of what Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum performance has looked like in practice.

An exact peer is useful when you can find one, but relatively few companies publish a detailed EcoVadis output. Start with your industry, then widen the search to companies with a similar size, operating footprint, supply-chain exposure or assessment scope. Several reasonably relevant examples are often more informative than one perfect match.

Look for the most useful output types

Search by the EcoVadis filename

Companies often keep part of the filename generated for the EcoVadis output. These searches can uncover PDFs that are difficult to find through a normal company-name search:

Add an industry, country, medal or company name to narrow the results. In the site:companywebsite.com search, replace companywebsite.com with the company’s actual domain. Phrase searches such as “Scorecard Publication date” and “Improvement areas” can also find scorecards that a company has renamed.

Record the context around the result

For each useful report, capture the assessment date, assessed entity and scope, overall score, percentile, medal, four theme scores, strengths and improvement areas. The assessment date matters because the company, methodology and assessed population may have changed since publication.

A detailed scorecard shows what EcoVadis recognised and where it found gaps. It usually does not reveal every questionnaire answer, uploaded document or analyst decision behind the result. Compare several reports, look for recurring patterns and use the reported scores as indicative examples.

4. Can You Have a High EcoVadis Score and Still Not Receive a Medal?

Yes. Reaching the required percentile does not automatically make your company eligible for a medal.

No theme can score below 30

A company is not eligible for an EcoVadis medal if any of its four theme scores is below 30/100: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics or Sustainable Procurement.

EcoVadis also applies several checks that matter in specific situations:

5. What Is the EcoVadis Committed Badge?

The Committed Badge requires an overall EcoVadis score of at least 45, subject to the badge eligibility rules.

It is different from a medal because it is based on a score threshold rather than a percentile threshold.

A company can sit within the top 35% by percentile but receive a Committed Badge rather than a medal if it fails another medal eligibility condition while still satisfying the badge requirements.

A company that receives a medal does not also receive a badge.

6. What Is the EcoVadis Fast Mover Badge?

The Fast Mover Badge recognises improvement.

The current requirement is:

• an overall score between 34 and 44;
• at least a 6-point increase compared with the previous assessment within an 18-month period; and
• the applicable badge eligibility conditions.

A company moving from 36 to 42 may therefore qualify for Fast Mover even though its score is still below the Committed Badge threshold.

The badge recognises the improvement, not that the company has reached medal-level performance.

7. How Do You Move From Bronze or Silver Towards Gold or Platinum?

Start with the scorecard rather than the medal colour.

If you received Bronze and want Gold, the useful question is which weaknesses on the scorecard are holding back the result and what needs to change before reassessment.

1. Check the four theme scores

Find the weakest theme first. A low theme score can hold down the overall result and, below 30, block medal eligibility completely.

2. Read the improvement areas

Separate them by what is actually missing:

• Policy: the commitment, responsibility or governance is weak or missing.
• Action: the company has not demonstrated enough implementation.
• Results: KPI reporting or measurable performance is weak.
• Coverage: the practice does not apply widely enough across the assessed scope.
• Evidence: the company may be doing the work, but the documents did not prove the selected claim.

3. Separate weak evidence from weak management practice

Suppose EcoVadis did not credit your anti-corruption training.

The first may require better evidence selection. The second requires actual implementation. They need different fixes.

4. Prioritise the gaps that repeat

If the same weakness appears across several themes or management indicators, it usually deserves more attention than one isolated comment.

Examples include:

• responsibilities repeatedly unclear;
• little evidence of coverage;
• policies exist but implementation is weak;
• actions exist but KPI reporting is missing;
• documents are routinely out of scope or difficult to verify.

5. Build the next assessment around the fixes

Turn the improvement area into an action, owner and expected evidence.

8. Can Your EcoVadis Medal Change Even If Your Score Barely Changes?

Yes. Your percentile is calculated when the scorecard is published against the EcoVadis population assessed during the preceding 12 months. Other companies improving can therefore change your relative position even when your own score changes little.

9. How Long Is an EcoVadis Medal Valid?

EcoVadis medals and badges are valid for 12 months from the scorecard publication date.

The recognition is attached to the assessed entity. It does not automatically apply to a parent company, sister company, subsidiary, site or other affiliated entity that was not the assessed entity.

Check which legal entity or assessment scope actually received the recognition before using it externally.

10. How Can You Use an EcoVadis Medal or Badge in 2026?

For new external communications from 2026 onwards, references to an EcoVadis medal or badge must include a link to the company's EcoVadis Recognition Page. This also applies when the medal is mentioned only in text. Printed and offline materials should use the QR code that links to the Recognition Page.

EcoVadis currently allows external sharing by companies with an active Premium, Select or Corporate subscription.

Common company-level uses

• corporate and sustainability websites;
• LinkedIn and other social media;
• sustainability reports;
• presentations, proposals and RFP responses;
• brochures and event materials.

Uses that can create a misleading impression

• product packaging or product-level sustainability claims;
• wording that suggests EcoVadis endorses your products or services;
• group-wide use when the medal applies to a narrower assessed entity, unless the scope is clearly explained;
• external communications that omit the required Recognition Page link.

A medal can be a useful target. The work underneath it is what changes the next result.
